Biography of James M. Stone

Jim is the founder, Chairman and CEO of the Plymouth Rock group of companies. Jim began his career by teaching economics, after earning a Ph.D. in economics at Harvard. He served as Massachusetts Insurance Commissioner from 1975 to 1979 and then as Chairman and Commissioner of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission for four years. On his return from Washington, he founded Plymouth Rock.

He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Boston Globe, and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of two non-profit organizations, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and Management Sciences for Health. Jim has served as an advisor to governments in three developing countries, and he has authored a book and numerous articles on insurance and finance. He is married and the father of teenage twins.

Biography of Hal R. Belodoff

Hal is the President and Chief Operating Officer of The Plymouth Rock Company which oversees the Plymouth Rock group of companies. He is Chairman of Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation and serves as Chairman of several other companies within the Plymouth Rock group. Hal joined Plymouth Rock in 1991 and was responsible for expanding our business into New Jersey through our affiliate Plymouth Rock Management Company of New Jersey (formerly Palisades Safety and Insurance Management Company).

Previously, Hal was Deputy Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Medical Security and was responsible for implementing several new health programs for the uninsured. He has held executive positions with U.S. Healthcare, Inc., a major national HMO company, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. He is a graduate of Cornell University and Boston University School of Law. Hal also serves as a trustee of Lesley University. He is married and is the father of two sons.

Biography of Chris Olie

Chris is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation, the fifth largest writer of private passenger automobile insurance in Massachusetts. Chris also oversees Plymouth Rock Assurance in Connecticut, Pilgrim Insurance Company in Massachusetts and Mt. Washington Assurance Corporation in New Hampshire.

Previously, Chris was an executive at Progressive Insurance with 20 years of property and casualty experience including P&L Management, Business Systems, and Product and Process Management. He is a graduate of Cornell University and received his MBA from Pennsylvania State University. He is married and the father of two daughters.

Biography of Gerry Wilson

Gerry is Chief Executive Officer of Plymouth Rock Management Company of New Jersey, the fourth largest auto insurance group in the state. He began his career with Plymouth Rock in 2000 as President and CEO of our Palisades companies. In 2006, Gerry became CEO of our High Point companies. Prior to joining Palisades, Gerry was President and General Manager of the Progressive Corporation’s Michigan Insurance Company, where he was directly responsible for Progressive's business in his home state of Michigan.

Gerry has a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Oberlin College, an M.A. in History and an M.B.A., both from the University of Michigan. He has spent time in Osaka, Japan where he researched Japanese human resource management policies. Gerry was named 2003 Insurance Company Person of the Year by the Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey (PIANJ). He is married and the father of three children.
