Put your phone away and drive. Many people today have a scary, personal story involving cell phones and driving, especially driving while texting, so it’s crucial to remember the frightening statistics on casualties resulting from drivers using cell phones while driving—don’t text and drive.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, approximately 6,000 people died due to accidents involving the use of mobile devices while driving, in 2009 and according to The Pew Research Center’s Internet and American Life Project, nearly 50 percent of adults with texting capabilities have admitted to driving while texting. Pretty scary stuff!
